The singing competition American Idol debuted in 2002. It wasn't a new idea, there had been other televised singing competitions before. Regardless, it took the country by storm. Kelly Clarkson won and started a huge career, Justin Guarini came in second, and plenty of others like R.J. Helton, Nikki McKibbin, Christina Christian, and Tamyra Gray almost made it big. After the show ended, many of the contestants went on a national tour bringing the television stars to the big stage. This original American Idol shirt, deadstock in excellent condition, is from the show's first ever tour in 2002 after the end of the first season.
