Bowie State College, now Bowie State University, is a HBCU founded in 1865. Situated in Bowie, MD, the school began as a school for teachers and has grown into a school with over 20 majors and several graduate departments. The school's athletic teams, the Bulldogs, play in NCAA Division II and have several sports teams, including a bowling team.
