Vintage Dead Kennedys "New Years Eve 1984" Show Poster

Punk hardcore band Dead Kennedys formed in 1978. They were a political band, using singer Jello Biafra's satirical and humorous lyrics to expose various problems both in their home state of California and abroad. The band began releasing music on their own label, Alternative Tentacles, and were instantly recognized as one of the best and most important bands on the new scene. They were busy consistently touring and releasing new music and after releasing two albums in just as many years, they decided to take time off from releasing new music in 1983 and 1984, but that didn't mean they took it easy on shows. They started off 1984 by playing a show at Starlite Ballroom in North Hollywood with a stacked show: T.S.O.L, Butthole Surfers, Feederz, and Offenders. They would break up only a few years later in 1986 after a few more albums and being taken to trial for obscenity. They notably reformed without Jello Biafra on vocals after Jello lost a lawsuit from previous members. This original Dead Kennedys poster, folded with some wear including pinholes and light tearing along creases as well as some discoloration in various locations, is from their New Years Eve show leading up to 1984.
