Dirty Dancing is a 1987 film directed by Emile Ardolino. The movie, a modern classic, follows Baby Houseman as she leaves her uppity, élite family in the dust as she becomes a dancer to help her new friend Johnny Castle. The romantic drama premiered at Cannes and became the first movie to sell over a million VHS copies. It starred Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, and Jerry Orbach.
