The beefcake genre simply shows scantily clad, muscular men in subtly provocative pose. The connotations were obvious but still subtle, giving artists the ability to showcase homoeroticism while circumventing conservative censorship. While it was perfectly legal it was still subversive, giving a voice to, at the time, a very closeted LGBTQ community. Now, in a very different cultural climate, these depictions of male sexuality stand as a mark of pride. This vintage JK Designs shirt is in great condition.
