The Lakers built their team for the rest of the 70s, acquiring Magic Johnson in the draft in 1979, and the team completely exploded in the 80s. They won the championship in 80, 82, 85, 87, and 88. He retired in 1989 as one fo the most decorated and best basketball players to ever play the game.
