In 1995, Madonna released Something To Remember, a compilation of ballads. Madonna had been in the public eye for over a decade at that point and was receiving a fair share of criticism for her private life. To bring attention back to her music and to show a different, softer side, Madonna compiled an album of songs that departed from her previous work. And it worked. The album went to #6 on the Billboard charts and was eventually certified Triple Platinum.
