Marilyn Manson are an American rock band from Florida formed in 1989. In 1993 they signed to Nothing Records, which was founded by Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, and released a string of Platinum-selling albums, including 1996's Antichrist Superstar and 1998's Mechanical Animals. The band was too creepy and weird for the mainstream, even in the post-grunge era. Marilyn Manson was an androgynous, anti-religious pop star, an oxymoron for sure, but the band's controversy only fueled their popularity.
