In 1993, Napalm Death, the legendary English grindcore band, released Fear, Emptiness, Despair, their fifth album. The group had formed over a decade before and after ruling the underground were given a shot for the mainstream alternative by major label Columbia after Earache partnered with them. The record saw the band experimenting with new sounds, slowing down to include more mid-paced music at this point, but they were still so extreme that they landed a spot on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack with the first song on the album, "Twist The Knife (Slowly)."
