The ship was named for David George Oulet, a Navy sailor from Boston, MA who was posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor after taking the blast of a grenade to protect his ship. The Ouelet was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon. This original USS Ouelet windbreaker, in great condition, is from when the destroyer was still active.
