Goo Goo Dolls, the Buffalo-based alt rock band, released Dizzy Up The Girl, their sixth album, in 1998. They had formed over a decade before but had solidly broken into the mainstream with songs like "Name" from their previous album, and Dizzy brought them to a new level with songs like "Iris" which helped the album sell over five million copies. To support the album, the band went out on tour in 1999, a lengthy trip across the US.
