Yngwie Malmsteen is a bit of an oxymoron. He's a shredding metal guitarist but he really plays classical music on the guitar. Normally, when you think of classical guitar music, you're thinking of acoustic guitar with nylon strings playing complex baroque melodies with intricate harmonies. Malmsteen did that on a Fender Strat with distortion sped up to dastardly speeds. In 1984, Yngwie released his debut album Rising Force on Polydor. The record went to #60 on the Billboard Charts and was nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. This vintage Yngwie Malmsteen tank top is from his 1985 tour in support of Rising Force.
